What Is an Informational Interview?
An informational interview is a structured conversation where a student speaks with a professional to learn about their career path, industry, and day-to-day work. Unlike a job interview, the goal is not employment; it’s exploration, learning, and connection.
Career development experts consistently highlight informational interviews as an effective tool for career exploration. These conversations help individuals:

How Informational Interviews Work in Reboot Plus
In Reboot Plus, informational interviews are carefully facilitated to ensure students feel prepared and supported.
Participants:
- Research careers and industries
- Develop thoughtful, personalized questions
- Practice communication and professional etiquette
- Engage in one-on-one or small group conversations with professionals
Facilitators connect students with professionals in fields of their interest. As the interviews are conduct online, students are connected to professionals locally, nationally and even internationally.

“They get to hear stories of how people moved forward in their life and into their chosen careers. Where possible, we like to link youth to people from our area so that they can see firsthand people doing well as a result of completing high school and getting some post secondary training.”
