- Job Displacement vs. Job Creation: Machine learning and AI are set to transform many industries. Jobs that involve repetitive and routine tasks are at risk of being displaced. The challenge lies in ensuring that workers are prepared to transition into these new roles.

As the labor market unfolds, programs like Reboot Plus play an important role in helping youth prepare for the future. Reboot Plus is designed to equip young individuals with curiosity and confidence needed to grow in a rapidly changing job landscape. Here’s how Reboot Plus can help:
- Skill Development: Reboot Plus focuses on providing youth with the social emotional skills needed for the modern workplace. By focusing on experiential learning and self-reflection, the program helps participants develop critical SES such as communication, teamwork, adaptability, and leadership.
- Career Guidance: Students in the program take assessments to learn more about their interests and aptitudes. They search career profiles using the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system to better understand careers and requirements. They’re encouraged to dream their wildest dream and see the possibilities.
- Adaptability and Resilience: Reboot Plus emphasizes adaptability and resilience qualities through its programs. We start by building routine back into their lives and reengage them in their outlook for the future.
- Networking and Mentorship: Reboot Plus connects participants with 4-7 industry professionals for informational interviews. This fosters valuable relationships and guidance. During youth led informational interviews, professionals share their career development experiences and provide career insights, a sense of the current labour market, and an idea of the skills, education and experience required.
Preparing for the Future
As machine learning and AI continue to change the labour market, it’s important for young people to be proactive in preparing for these changes. Programs like Reboot Plus provide tools, skills, and support needed to navigate the evolving job landscape. By investing in education and career development now, youth can position themselves for success in a future where technology and innovation play a central role.
